IMO, she’s the princess of my castle and the queen of my heart because just of what kind of a character she is. She gives and gives and yet never asks for anything in return. Which is a trope that gets played a lot and quite frankly a trope that I’m pretty sick of seeing in most other occurrences—but there’s just something about how Kururu is done that makes me not only tolerate it but also love her for it.
&I quite frankly think it’s because even though she’s the kind of character that she is—she’s also well aware of the terrible things that happen around her and in the world. She isn’t sheltered, okay she IS sheltered, but after meeting Ikki her eyes are opened and she sees sides of the world she probably never knew before. She creates ATs which are used—by most people—for enjoyment and to be able to do cool tricks and transportation… kind of like roller-skates are supposed to be used for. Of course she also creates regalia which are used as weapons and stated weapon kills people. And I don’t think for a moment that she doesn’t realized that—that she’s oblivious that she has created something that could kill a person in the right hands.
But then the thing is, she doesn’t let anyone know that she’s carrying that weight inside of her. She just smiles brightly and tries to be optimistic as much as she can be and do everything and more. She gives up on the man she loves because she realizes how much more beneficial it would be if she did. Out of all the characters in Air Gear, I honestly think Kururu sacrificed the most and gained barely anything in return but didn’t care about it. She was simply happy to make others happy.
LIKE. You can’t get this kind of person in real life or in any other series and make it not look gross or fake…or well, you could but it takes a certain kind of circumstance to make it not look too tropey? I mean, Kururu is already way too tropey but I like her despite of it all. Sobs… I don’t know . She’s just a really sweet character that loves the world and everything in it. She believes in fairy tales, ghost stories and wonders in the world… because why wouldn’t she? There’s so much in the world worth loving—everyone has dreams of their own and aspirations… why limit herself to just a few things?
Kururu is just one of those characters that really just loves to the fullest and gives without care. But she also isn’t doing it because she doesn’t know better—she does—she just does it because she understands just how sad it is. After all, she was a nervous introverted girl without any real dreams of her own before she met Ikki. She thought she couldn’t amount to anything and that her talents were just ordinary things that she could do… From her introduction as a shy girl with a sweet demeanor to how she develops into a strong, confident young woman who is proud of her trade and skills, is really awe inspiring.
